We sincerely believe that there’s two types of people:
- People made for big cities and metropoles. A folk feeling at ease with towering concrete structures and a lightning fast pace of life. Agoraphobia is a foreign word as they get up every morning and delve into the maze of buildings and crowds.
- And then there’s the rest. That didn’t really live a clue to what this article is about, did it? The rest of the people are the type with a provenance from villages, small rural towns and such. They carry the intimate appreciation for the neighbourhood, the smell of the town’s bakery every morning and church bells calling for Sunday’s mass.
We must admit, this cliché ridden and manichaeistic comparison may seem pointless, but what if we told you about a type of city that combines the virtues of both postulated concepts?
A place where emotional individualism can meet hardboiled progress and the familiar streets still provide exciting new possibilities every day?
Get lost and found
Well, after this tedious introduction THE FIZZ brings to you: Leiden, also known as “the key city”. A midsize city in the Netherlands, famous for its scientific and academic prowess in Europe, reaching back in time an impressive 4 centuries.
Leiden charms you only with the very best that the Netherlands offer: legacy universities, lovely channels with boats, bicycles everywhere you look and the provenance of the famed Dutch tulips. Not even the infamous Don Quixote could keep his distance, as you will find picturesque windmills scattered over the adorable landscape.
The town oozes a vibrant and cultured lifestyle with international students, living out the best period of their lives, gathering in the numerous pubs and bars and animating the scenic old town streets.
Fortunately, there is a solution. And oh boy have we got a hot lead for you!
THE FIZZ is opening a house in Leiden. While you are reading this article and your brain is tensely trying to decipher our incoherent gibberish, a team of lovely people is working their hardest, to make this student’s dream a reality by winter of 2023.

We have already scouted out the town for you. Apart from the aforementioned pubs and bars you can frequent to network with fellow students, our house is located in a central area of the city, leaving you to stroll over to the near main station within a few minutes. From there you are amazingly connected to Amsterdam and The Haag within merely 15 minutes via train. Thanks to the excellent biking routes and public transports the city centre is quickly reached. There you will find all the shopping and entertainment opportunities a student’s heart desires. This also means, that you get to your faculties in record time, leaving you to rejoice in more “shut-eye”-time in your comfortable bed.
