It’s time for your own four walls to shine! But what can you expect from your apartment upgrade?

From 21st August 2023, we will start upgrading the apartments. We work our way from floor to floor from week to week. All FIZZies are expected to enjoy their home in the new look and feel until the end of September.*

You received a separate email with the exact date when your apartment is turned, as well as any other information about the process. Don’t worry, you can of course move back into your apartment on the same day.

10/23 Community Areas

We will start with the upgrade of the community areas approximately from October 2023 and will be finishing them latest in November.*

But what awaits you at the start of the new semester? Look forward to an upgrade of the community kitchen and the integration of a brand new play and study zone. The courtyard is also being redesigned and will in the future connect houses B and C with its new BBQ corner. You will meet the house managers in the brand new reception lounge in house A.

10/23 Services

Laundry Lounge

Doing laundry is definitely not one of your favourite to do’s. But in the end you can’t get around it, so we’ll rebuild it for you.

In the period from 28.-31.08.2023 the laundry lounge will be renovated. We ask for your understanding that you cannot wash during this time.

You will soon be able to use appWash to make washing more convenient.

TULU Boxes

To improve your wellbeing, we also adjust our services as follows:

Digital rental item system: Borrow rental items independently from a vending machine 24/7. We cooperate with the company TULU. For more information, please visit the website.

Latest news regarding your apartment upgrade

It’s better to pause than continue stumbling… Unfortunately, we have to stop the planned apartment upgrade throughout THE FIZZ Bremen. We noticed that unfortunately we couldn’t do it in the desired quality and speed that we wanted for our FIZZies.

Like you, we are very unhappy with this decision. Unfortunately, we are also dependent on third parties for the entire project and have to reorganize ourselves.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will contact you as soon as we have more detailed information on how and when to proceed.

What changes will be done to my apartment?

*Your own furniture, such as cupboards/shelves/sideboards must not stand in the way.

How do I need to prepare my apartment in advance for the upgrade?

Since you will receive a completely new bed and a new mattress, we ask you to clear your bed including your pillows, blankets, sheets and empty the entire contents of your bed drawer.
Your desk (and the area around it) and your desk chair must also be cleared.
In the kitchen, it is important that the entire work surface of your kitchen worktop, the contents of all wall and base cabinets, and the cutlery drawer under the hob are cleared.
Please also make sure that your entire window area is freely accessible, as you will also receive new curtains.

In what period will my apartment be upgraded? When will it be ready?

The upgrade of apartments will take place fom 21st August until the end of September 2023. Each week, a certain block of apartments will be renovated during the day. (up to 20 apartments per day; one floor per week). You already received certain emails about the whole process. Please read them carefully.

What happens if I’m out of town when my apartment upgrade is scheduled?

You have the option to give us – THE FIZZ – a power of attorney, through which you will allow us to enter your apartment even in your absence. Or you can empower a third person (e.g. a friend) to represent you in the process. If you need a power of attorney, you must sign it personally at reception by 14th August 2023 the latest.

Where can I get a power of attorney?

You can sign the power of attorney at the reception by 14.08.2023 the latest when you pick up your storage boxes.

How will I be informed when my apartment will be upgraded and how long it will take?

You will soon receive a separate email with the exact date your apartment will be upgraded and other information about the process. We work from floor to floor week after week. The upgrade takes place between 8am and 6pm. However, you can move back to your apartment on the same day.

Will I get any support from the house management in preparing my room for the refurbishment?

Yes, we will offer you three storing boxes which you can pick up at the reception to pack and store your belongings temporarily. Your belongings must be stored in your cabinets or in your bathroom, as we don’t have extra storing space in the building. The cabinets and bathroom will be sealed together with you, so your belongings are safe. If you hand over your apartment by yourself, you can sign the sticker. In case of a power of attorney, one of our colleagues will sign it.

How does the process of the apartment upgrade work and in terms of security of personal belongings and my personal space.

Please let us know whether you will be present in the period of calendar week 34-38. If this is not the case, please authorise a person of your choice or us directly – THE FIZZ – to enter your apartment during your absence. If you need a power of attorney, you must sign it personally at reception by 14th August 2023 the latest.
On the day of your apartment upgrade, we require your presence in order to confirm the condition of your apartment at the time before the refurbishment begins. At the end of the upgrade, we will prepare a handover form for you, with which you confirm that everything is in order and that all your belongings are as they were before the upgrade. The whole process will be documented with photos before and after the work. The moment workers enter the room, the bathroom and warderobs will be sealed with a sensitive seal to prevent further entry.
If you have filled out a power of attorney, one of our employees or a person authorised by you, will seal the bathroom and your closet, sign the seal and sign the handover form.

What happens if I don’t agree to the renovation of my apartment?

According to your rental agreement, we are allowed to make improvements in your apartment. If you deny us access, you must compensate us for the effort that arises from this.
