How about a break from everyday stress with a cool drink and a view of the Frankfurt skyline or the Taunus mountains? Impossible? It’s not! In our student residence THE FIZZ Frankfurt, students from all over the world not only find a cosy accommodation to stay, but also a complete package of many different services and community areas that will make your study time unforgettable. But such a house does not run by itself. The house managers Danny and Domenico are the heart of the house and make sure that everything runs smoothly. We took a closer look at both of them and learned a lot. Stay tuned!

What is your role as House Managers at THE FIZZ Frankfurt?

Danny: At THE FIZZ, we are the first contact persons in the building and answering any questions our tenants may have. Next to many services we offer (reception service, organising events, etc.) for our FIZZies, we are also responsible for the security and cleaning of the building and are also the contact person for any other service providers or companies who have to work with us.

Domenico: All in all, you have several jobs at the same time: clerk, real estate agent, cleaner, detective, caretaker, educator, mediator, parking lot attendant, postman and event manager.

What is your motto in life?

“The worst day diving is better than the best day working.”

What are three important qualities that a House Manager should have?

Danny: Friendliness, helpfulness & keep an eye everywhere…

Domenico: … and of course a lot of patience. 😉

How important is it for you to have a good relationship with the residents?

Danny: It’s one of the most important things because it makes the living experience and communication between each other easier and smoothly.

Domenico: Correct, and if you develop a good bond with the residents, they’ll be more careful with the furniture and other things. 😉 Residents build trust and feel more comfortable in our home.

What are your hobbies or what do you like to do in your free time?

Danny: As a scuba diver I love the ocean and the silence with the diversity of flora and fauna in it. And of course, you can imagine that this is a little better than my desk in my office. 😊

Domenico: You can either find me at the football field, dancing around, cooking delicious food or weight training. 😊 I love that our THE FIZZ has such an amazing fitness studio!

What fascinates you about your job and what are you particularly looking forward to?

Domenico: I just joint THE FIZZ as an Assistant House Manager, but what I can say is that I am fascinated by the varied activities in my job. I am particularly looking forward to all the new move in’s, to welcoming the new tenants and showing them our house.

Danny: For me, it is also meeting young people from different countries and cultures and assisting them in one of their biggest steps in life. I’m looking forward to meeting them and I wish that people with different cultures in our building would connect with each other more, so that friendships can be built all around the world.

What is your motto in life?

“Give every day the chance to become the best day of your life.”

What are 3 main points which make THE FIZZ Frankfurt so special to you?

Danny: Short ways, many different cultures and their opportunities with it (restaurants, events, etc.), a place in the middle of Europe from where you can reach every place in the whole world. Because of the airport, I always say, you’re in the whole world within 30 minutes. 😊

What is the best memory you have of THE FIZZ Frankfurt so far?

Domenico: As I just started working here, the best memory so far is that my fellow colleagues gave me a very warm welcome.

Danny: Our funny Summer Games which hopefully can be done this year again, after a long break.

Do you have a favourite area at THE FIZZ Frankfurt?

Danny: Defiantly, our roof terrace with the amazing view at the skyline of Frankfurt and the Taunus.

How important is neighbourhood to you?

Danny: Very important, because you share your life with the people next to you. So, a good relationship with each other is the best way for everybody to have a good time at THE FIZZ.

Domenico: Yes, and it also reduces loneliness, offers security and enables great cooperation.

Can you recommend attractions and places in and around Frankfurt to our FIZZies?

Danny: Our zoo is really nice (see African animals with skyscrapers in the background is funny), old town Sachsenhausen with the typical restaurants there (delicious Apfelwein & Grüne Soße) and the Taunus in front of Frankfurt.

Domenico: Palmengarten, Römerplatz, Eintracht Frankfurt soccer games, boat trips on the river Main (best in the evening with a view of the skyline) and the Zeil shopping street

Anything more to say?

Domenico: I am very happy to be part of the team as a newcomer and am looking forward to the new challenges.

Danny: My greatest efforts here in the house are to ensure that everyone has a great time as they live with us and feel as comfortable as you want them to be and to enable peaceful coexistence. I always look forward to meeting many nice people.
