Hop on the saddle! We have selected some bike tours for you, which you can comfortably start from your front door.

Your bike tour starts at your front door!

While those who suffer from allergies probably want nothing more than an oxygen tent, others only want one thing these days: going out into the countryside. The easiest and fastest way to do this is by bike.

No excuses

If you do not own a bicycle, you don’t have to buy one at once. There are several bicycle rentals to choose from. Swapfiets offers a cheap bicycle subscription for students. At some of our locations, a Swapfiets bicycle is available free of charge for you to test ride. Just ask at the reception desk!

Berlin: Berlin Wall Trail

A classic among the bike tours and an absolute MUST for every Berliner of choice. The Wall Trail runs for 160 km (which can easily be divided into several stages) along the former border line between East and West Berlin, right across the city and past the most important markers (Checkpoint Charlie, Bernauer Strasse, etc.) The route was only completed in 2019 and is quite busy at the weekend – but thanks to the excellent cycle paths it is an exciting journey into German history.

Berlin

Bremen: Bockland Tour

The Bockland stretches north of the city and definitely is worth a trip. We leave the noisy, full “Unisee” behind us and escape to the idyllic marshland, where there are more cows than people. Be sure to plan a stopover at the Kaemena family’s organic farm – there you can get delicious homemade organic ice cream, which you can work off your belly on the 25 km way back over flat land.

Darmstadt: A Sightseeing Loop to Ludwigsteich

This tour does not only lead once across the city from east to west, but also over the “Rosenhöhe” and the “Oberfeld”, so you have to expect a small ascent. It’s not all that bad: On the way there are numerous idyllic views and possibilities to have a break and stop for refreshments. And if you like, you can also visit Blacky the god goat at the Zoo Vivarium.

Frankfurt am Main: View of the Skyline from across the river

We find: The Frankfurt skyline is a sight that never gets boring! Therefore we switch the side of the river and start our round trip in Sachsenhausen. Along the Main we pass the Gutleutviertel and the City on the right. At Höchst you can take the ferry for a short ride before you return home in the shade and past the Waldstadion.

Freiburg: Round trip to Riegel am Kaiserstuhl

The round tour starts about 20 minutes from THE FIZZ in Landwasser. Afterwards, the tour alternately follows railway tracks or a river through small villages to Riegel am Kaiserstuhl. This is where the former Riegeler Brewery is located; it was in operation until 2003. Today, the brewery castle houses lofts and commercial areas. In the beer garden you can still taste the good Riegeler beer, after that you can start your way home (in serpentines).

Hamburg: Along the Elbe to Wedel

This tour starts literally BEFORE YOUR HOUSE DOOR. First we go through Altona down to the Elbe, then directly along the water to the west. At the Strandperle you can stop for a cool drink and have a look at the industrial harbour on the other side of the river. In Wedel you should definitely sit down at the “Willkomm Höft” and watch the passing cruisers and container ships. Every ship that sets sail or heads for the port of Hamburg is greeted by an announcement and the national anthem.

Hanover: Nordstadt along the river Ihme

This leisure tour covers several nature-related sites in Hannover. It goes past the Herrenhausen Gardens, along the banks of the river Ihme southwards to the Maschsee and on to Eilenriede, a beautiful route through the shady forest. If you want to escape into nature, you don’t even have to leave the city.

Vienna: Round trip Praterstern – Höhenstraße

On the website “Fahrradwien.at” you will find some nice tours – from short and flat to long and steep. Just click on the tab “Tours”. We have chosen the round tour “Praterstern – Höhenstraße – Praterstern” for you.

It is the steepest tour with a view to relaxing at a Heurigen at the end. The tour starts at Praterstern. Along the Danube Canal it goes slightly uphill to Sievering. In the middle of the Vienna Woods, the tour turns onto the well-known Höhenstraße, the longest road in Vienna. Through the forest and partly over cobblestones the tour goes up to the Kahlenberg. After a detour to its little brother, the Leopoldsberg, we roll steeply downhill over serpentines towards the beautiful small town Klosterneuburg. Back to Vienna we take the Danube cycle path.

We wish you a lot of fun on the bike!
